Mixed and Veterans
Firstly, may we thank everyone who supported the Mixed and Veterans Championships that we held in Saltash on Saturday 28th June. It was hard work but the day ran without too many glitches and the weather was much kinder to us than last year. Thank you to all those who helped make the event successful; the food tent ladies, umpires, Ted Gundry for the commentary, Mary MacDonald for recording, all members of Caradon Gig Club who worked so hard on the day and in the run up, Caradon, Calstock, Tamar/Tavy, Cattewater, Fowey, Rock, Weymouth, Mevagissey, St Agnes, Mounts Bay, Falmouth, Torridge, Padstow, Dartmouth, Salcombe, Looe, and Helford for loaning their gigs for the championships. Thank you also to Tribute for sponsoring the beer and medals, which will be presented at the end of the season by the CPGA, the drivers of the umpire boats, Roy Crapp and Bill MacDonald for starting the 65 races, Anne Curnow Care and the CPGA and most of all, the competitors for their co-operation which enabled us to run the day as smoothly as possible. Any comments, positive and negative would be greatly received, so that we can consider how we could make the event run better, should we host it again in the future (we have already made some notes of our own!). Finally, congratulations to all the winners on the day. Results were as follows:
